Celebrating 3 years of Morningstar AdviserLogic

This year marks the third anniversary of AdviserLogic and Morningstar joining forces, which provides a wonderful opportunity to look back on our journey and celebrate our successes.

Arriving at today

Our commitment to supporting financial advisers with a modern technology stack that is easy to use, secure, and digitally transformative goes back to the time when the outcomes from the Royal Commission first unfolded, indicating a shift towards financial advice becoming more independent and professional. The Morningstar team knew that under this evolving landscape, advisers were going to need more support – and we saw a strong alignment with our mission of empowering investor success. AdviserLogic had built a strong business serving the Independent Financial Adviser (IFA) market. Thus, in 2019, we identified a natural alignment in helping advisers run efficient practices by using integrated but open technology and delivering great client experiences and investment outcomes through Morningstar's capabilities. In 2020, we also acquired FinaMetrica, the world-renowned psychometric risk profiling tool, to further extend our support for the IFAs. Our acquisitions, investments, and integration of these broad capabilities have allowed us to provide independent practices with an end to end integrated ecosystem – including CRM, risk profiling, advice generation, fee disclosure, revenue management, client portal, licensee monitoring dashboards, investment research, managed portfolios and more. We are only just getting started.

Some of our achievements:

  • Added 60+ staff across product development, onboarding, service, and other functions.
  • Onboarded new cohorts of users.
  • Launched Digital Advice for efficient advice generation.
  • Extended integration possibilities with new APIs, Zapier access points and integration partners.
  • Increased focus on security and privacy leveraging Morningstar’s global standards.
  • Rolled out standard advice templates to reduce the cost and risk around advice delivery.
  • Enhanced support processes with additional team members, new platforms, and structured training via the new Morningstar Academy.
  • Added a host of additional functionality including a brand-new Client Portal, Digital Signatures, a new Compliance module supporting FDS and FTA service models, new Data Feeds, new research tools, improved support for SMSFs, improved support for managed accounts, upgrades to Cash Flow – and more!
